Amazon packages are changing – the first step in a major restructuring

The company is trying to reduce plastic in its packages. Customers from Germany will therefore soon no longer receive items that are packed with plastic air cushions, the company announced in a press release, reports wa.de.

Not only Amazon's own packages are to become plastic-free, but also the items from companies that ship their products via Amazon (Fulfillment by Amazon). The items will be wrapped in wrapping paper that Amazon promises is 100 percent recycled and recyclable.

However, Amazon does not want to completely do without the additional packaging for its orders, so that the goods are protected in the package and do not move.

This innovation also does not apply to third-party providers who sell independently of the mail order company via the Amazon Marketplace. These companies are encouraged by the conglomerate to use more sustainable packaging.

The group also emphasizes that they are trying to make the packages as small as possible in order to save material. In addition, the packaging is tested in a special laboratory and in logistics centers worldwide. Nevertheless, Amazon does not want to and cannot do completely without single-use plastic.
